Berry Boys
U15A's 2 - 5 Leaside Colts B
Under 15's 'A' League
leaders Leaside Colts the opponents today. A late
2pm kick off at Parsloes Park in Dagenham saw the weather
deteriorating by the second. Driving rain and freezing
conditions were not on Berrys side today. An anticipated
lively start by both sides, but It took only 7 mins
for Leaside to score their first from a corner. Only
3 mins later Luke stuck in a wonderful individual goal
coming in from the right and shooting across the keeper
from 18 yards. 1-1. The weather worsening and the ball
becoming more difficult to control. 18 mins in, and
Leaside have another corner, and another goal sneaking
in at the far post. 1-2. Time to get a move on! Luke
whips in a cross from the right, and Smurfs on
the end of a great volley. Corr what a strike! it goes
just over the bar. What a goal that would have been.
The ball getting even more bogged down now, Not allowing
Berry to play football in their usual way. But
some good stuff going on all around the pitch. The
long balls being fired in from Leaside, come up trumps
for them once more in the 27th min. 1-3.
Half Time 1-3
Leaside always looking
like scoring, opened there second half account with a 47 min and 48 mins goals.1-5.
The pitch now very boggy and sticky, and some challenges
becoming a wee bit dodgy. Ref Dave Rivett halted the
game with Chris's 50-50 challenge high boot,
sent Leasides Left back to the ambulance, wanting stitches
on his forehead. I'm told he's ok, and will be able
to play next week. Time getting on now, a little glimmer
of hope, and a couple of shots from Reece and
Chris. Russ also being kept busy. At one point he juggled
the ball away from the striker using his hands and
both feet, while jumping. You would have to of seen
it, to believe it. How did he do that? A corner for
Berry at last. Floated in by Chris to the near
post, and as usual the smallest player on the pitch,
Smurf get his head on it. Back of the net. 2-5.
Berry behind, but with team work and spirit to the
end. Well done boys. The conditions didn't allow us
to play how we would of liked. Leaside enjoyed the
conditions. Obviously suited them more.
Full Time
2-5
Scorers : Luke 1,
Smurf 1
